Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Like everyone we have been actively monitoring the developing situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our work.

Our office is currently closed to the public and our staff are working from home.  Our phone line (0800 343424) continues to be available for voicemail messages and we are returning calls, where necessary, as soon as we can.

We will not be routinely accessing our post, but it is being held securely for us.  If you have recently sent us anything by post please let us know and if we have not received it we will discuss an alternative method of delivery with you.  Our preferred method of communication over this period is via our central email address nipso@nipso.org.uk.

The Local Government Ethical Standards team continues to progress investigations, but is aware of the effect it’s enquiries may have during this period.  It is also appreciative of the fact that some organisations and individuals may currently be finding it difficult to access the information and documents which are central to the team’s work.

Where they are informed of these issues they are responding flexibly on a case by case basis.

The position on how the Acting Commissioner intends to progress adjudications over the coming period is still the subject of consideration.  Decisions will be taken with a regard to how the situation unfolds in the coming weeks.

As an Office we intend to keep events under regular review to ensure that we are not indirectly creating a burden on our public services at this time.

We would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
