Under Section 19 of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 all public authorities, including the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman, have a duty to maintain a Publication Scheme outlining what information they publish, how it is made available, and whether this information will be available free of charge or on payment.
As agreed with the Information Commissioner’s Office the collective set documents published in this publications section of our NIPSO website constitutes our publication scheme.
The information that falls within this publication scheme is available free of charge. All requests for information will be acknowledged and a response issued within 20 working days.
Where possible the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman will publish information on its website. However, as we accept that some people do not have access to, or may not be comfortable with the use of the Internet, we will provide an alternative form of publication in each case.
If you are unhappy with any decision not to release information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 you may ask for an internal review. You should contact the Ombudsman if you wish to request an internal review. If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at Information Commissioner’s Office, 51Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
