The care and treatment of a patient in Causeway Hospital

The Northern Trust failed to provide a patient with a nutritional care plan during his time in hospital.  We also found that it should have contacted his family to discuss arrangements for a DNACPR.

Report recommendations

We asked the Trust to apologise to the complainant for the injustice caused as a result of the failures.

We also asked it to provide training to relevant nursing staff, and to choose a random sample of DNACPR forms over the last six months to check if they were completed correctly.
