Complaint about council’s decision to approve planning application
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council failed to fully record the reasons why it approved a planning application for a domestic garage. However, we found it would not have reached a different decision had the failings not occurred.

To help improve services for the public, and to prevent similar failings from happening again, we asked the Council:
- To remind staff about the importance of clearly and accurately recording all key decisions in planning cases
- To share the learning from this report with other staff
- To review how it measures existing structures before presenting the measurements to a Planning Committee
