Complaint about decision not to place patient on waiting list for hip surgery

The Southern Trust should have carried out further tests on a patient to see if she was suitable for hip surgery.

Report recommendations

In addition to apologising to the complainant, we recommended that the Trust bring our report to the attention of the relevant medical clinicians involved in the complainant’s care.

We also asked it to consider whether further intervention is necessary for other patients who may be candidates for hip replacement surgery.
