Complaint about the Northern Health and Social Care Trust

A Health Trust’s decision to admit a woman to a care home was appropriate, but its communication with her carer fell below the expected standards.

Report Recommendations

We believed the carer was treated unfairly, so we asked the Trust to:

  • Apologise for not telling him that Social Workers had attempted to visit

We want to make sure something similar doesn't happen to others, so we asked the Trust to:

  • Put in place a procedure so that carers can be informed of a Social Worker’s unsuccessful attempt to visit
  • Discuss the findings of this report with relevant staff and ask them to reflect on the failures identified
  • Remind staff of the importance of keeping proper and appropriate records
