Trust failed to provide appropriate follow-up care for cancer patient

A man’s cancer treatment was interrupted by the Covid pandemic in March 2020. We found that he should have been reviewed by clinicians as soon as possible after the resumption of face-to-face appointments.

Report recommendations

We asked the Trust to share the report with the clinicians involved in the patient’s care, and to remind all clinicians in the Emergency Department to fully document discussions they have on patient care.

We also asked it to organise a meeting with the consultant and the late patient's wife, in line with her wishes.
