Trust’s response to continuing healthcare request was not in line with guidance

A man asked the South Eastern Trust to check whether his mother was entitled to help with her care home fees.

We found the Trust failed to properly deal with the request and asked it to re-assess her primary care needs when revised guidance becomes available.

Report recommendations

We recommended that the Trust share the learning points highlighted in this report with relevant staff.

We also asked it to put in place a framework so it could consider all requests for continuing healthcare assessments in a timely and consistent manner.
